Manic Monday

I will return soon with new blog posts. It’s the week before my first event of the school year and I have several meetings this week. I also have several meetings after work for a new volunteer league I’ve joined. The craziness of the school year has ensued! The life of an event planner is like a roller coaster ride. Bear with me while I’m making my way back up to the top! 🙂

The Lip Product Tag

Favorite Balm or Treatment?

Hands down. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, $22.50. This product has never failed me. I use it underneath lipstick or lip gloss every day. It’s perfect. It also comes in a variety of shades to give your lips a tint of color. It has SPF in it. What more could you ask for?

Best eye catching red?

Well since I only have one red lipstick that I feel like I can wear, I’m going to go with MAC’s Viva Glam Cyndi. It suits my skintone so well.

Favorite Pink Lipstick?

This was a toss. I couldn’t decide between MAC Plink!, Chanel Dedicace or Bite Fig.

Favorite Nude Lipstick?

Too Faced Nude Beach. No question. It’s creamy and the perfect shade of nude for me right now. The formula doesn’t leave my lips chapped and it lasts a long time on the lips.

Best MAC Lipstick?

Plink! It’s always been my go-to MAC lipstick.

Favorite Gloss?

Buxom White Russian. I’ve gone through two tubes of this. Can’t. Get. Enough.

Favorite Spring/Summer Shade?

MAC Flamingo

Favorite Autumn/Winter Shade?

Too Faced Berry Sexy

Lip Liner: yes or no?

YES! It makes all the difference in the world. I’ve been using Whirl by MAC.

Wish List Wednesday

This wish list Wednesday is going to be a little different.

I’m wishing for…

  1. Happiness for everyone
  2. Unconditional love for everyone
  3. Peace for those going through a tough time
  4. Hugs for those who need it
  5. Everlasting smiles

Most of the time the things we are missing can be found within ourselves. The love you give is the love you get. Whatever you think you’re missing within your life, take a look around you, and change your mindset. Everything is based off a ripple effect, it’s amazing how much your life will change if you change the way you think.

Tip Tuesday: Detangle your Hair

If you have hair like mine (lots of it, fine, easily tangled) then this post is for you! My entire life I struggled with knots in my hair. Whether it was from certain shampoos/conditioners, not brushing it thoroughly, blow drying it, wearing it up, whatever it was it was always tangled. I have found throughout the years how to detangle my hair with no pain and to keep it that way.

  1. Shampoo/Condition: this might seem rather basic, because it is. But I have an even more basic tip to share. Immediately after shampooing, I lather my hair from roots to tips with conditioner. Most of my tangles in the shower begin at my crown. I run a decent amount of product through it and then pull all my hair up into a clip so it’s off my neck and back. This helps prevent the conditioner from rinsing out too early and helps prevent body breakouts. While my hair is up, I wash my face, my body, the other normal shower things. Rinsing my conditioner out is the last thing I do before getting out of the shower.
  2. Comb through your hair while in the shower: This brings me to tip #2. As you’re rinsing the conditioner out take a wide-toothed comb and start to slowly comb through your hair from the roots to the ends. This is where I eliminate the majority of the tangles. It also helps distribute the conditioner while making it easy to rinse clean. I have found my hair has absorbed a lot of the conditioner by the time I go to rinse it out.
  3. Detangler/Comb: Styling my hair is the last step in my getting ready routine. Usually, it’s been setting in a towel for about 30 minutes before I touch it again. I spray in a detangler, my favorite being the Bumble and Bumble Tonic Spray, and then comb through it once more. At this point there are no tangles. I apply my other styling products then clip it up once more. I leave it clipped while I get dressed.
  4. Blow dry: The last thing I do is style. I do a quick blow dry by flipping my head over and getting the roots dry first. I will slowly move to the middle sections of my hair. When my hair is half dry, I will take a flat paddle brush and start brushing through while drying at the same time. This helps eliminate any tangles that could happen during the blow drying process. Once my hair is dry I brush through it all one more time and style how I like for that day then I leave it alone.

I hope these tips were helpful.

I always comb through my conditioner in the shower before rinsing it out.

Friday Favorites: MAC Lipsticks

Recently, I cleaned out my lipsticks. A lot of them were old and a lot of them I outgrew color wise. I am planning to “back 2 MAC” 6 lipsticks, but I thought I would share the ones that I’m keeping, which are ultimately some of my favorite MAC lipsticks.

Throwback Thursday

This week I’m doing a throwback Thursday post. I’ve seen many articles on the internet referencing the 90’s and it made me realize how many good things were around when I was a kid. Mainly, press-on earrings.

I was way too scared to get my ears pierced until I was about 12, so these were constantly around my house. I remember my mom helping me “press” them on my ear so that they wouldn’t fall off, which by the way they always did!

What is one thing you remember from the past?

Brand Focus: Jouer Cosmetics

Today I wanted to talk about a brand of cosmetics that I have been interested in for a while: Jouer Cosmetics.

Originally only sold online and in select Henri Bendel stores, I always am weary of buying makeup online because I can be so picky. Now, Nordstrom started carrying Jouer and I am definitely more interested in purchasing a few items.

The first thing are the blushes. They seem very pigmented and natural looking. They retail for $24.00 and I am interested in the color Rose.

Of course I couldn’t try a new brand without trying their lipsticks. I’ve heard really good reviews on the Jouer Hydrating Lipsticks. These retail for $22.00 and I am interested in the color Meredith.

Lastly, the thing that caught my eye in the first place. The Jouer Lip Gloss. These are $20 and having swatched them before, I know I will probably love them. I’m interested in Peony and Malibu.

I think I’m going to start out by trying these items and then venture to try the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint because I have heard really good things about that product, as well.

Have you tried anything from Jouer?

Week in Photos: July 21-July 25

This week I’m sharing my week in photos. First, I spent Saturday and Sunday shopping for events that are coming up this fall. I took my new Cole Haan wingtips for a spin. They are super comfortable and feel like tennis shoes.

After stopping for a coffee break, Oprah never fails to inspire me. I love the quotes on the sleeves. Does anyone remember when Starbucks had quotes on their cups? Those were my favorite.

Prince George is officially one year old! I am absolutely infatuated with the royal family so I love following the prince’s life. He is so precious!

Lastly, some of my excitement came when I got new workout pants in the mail. These Zells Slim Live in leggings are super comfortable and I love the pattern on them.

How was your week?
